The Black that Follows
HOPE tells the story of the intimate relationship between a young woman named Hope and her younger brother before and after the brother commits a mass shooting at a library. The story was birthed from a similar relationship and story that I had in real life, which changed my world and perspective entirely. This perspective is rarely, if ever, shown in any forms of media deeply or truthfully, and the shooter and their family are almost always seen immediately and only as monsters and nothing more. The fact is that there is much more to it and if people get a glimpse of the truth behind this problem of mental illness and how to deal with it, I believe this immense virus in our culture, which only seems to be getting worse, will slowly find a way towards healing.
Beyond the experience, since the birth of this project 3 years ago (which was originally intended to be made as a feature film, and still is), I have done years of in-depth and obsessive research of the families and relationships of such characters. It is complex, filled with layers, heartbreaking but heartfelt, filled with tremendous melancholy, but also joy and laughter, like every story in life, and I truly hope you enjoy it.
A Light Once There

A Light Once There is the 'sister' film to Hope. It tells the story of the aftermath of a mass shooter and her sister.
It was inspired by the real-life recorded video of the
Parkland shooter speaking to his brother in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
This rare capturing shows us a brief insight into the complexity of these kinds of relationships. I highly recommend anyone to watch it, and it can be viewed here. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=nikolas+cruz+brother&ab_channel=GlobalNews
The Black that Follows
96 min runtime
The Black that Follows is my first feature film which I completed in late 2016. It tells the story of a young woman named Pearl who lives in a dystopian world of routine and being watched. She meets an enigmatic young man who shows her the different worlds she has lived in and how she can become free.

This film is surreal, existential, funny, sad, and full of my love and heart at the time. I hope you enjoy.
